Disease Biomarker
Research Laboratory

Welcome to the Disease Biomarker Research Laboratory.

About Lab

Disease Biomarker Research Laboratory is focusing on the utilization of biomaker in the development of therapeutics for various diseases such as sepsis and cytokine storm, cancer cachexia, muscular dystrophy, stroke and obesity.

Disease biomarkers will be discovered by OMICS analyses including transcriptomics/proteomics of animal models of diseases. Discovered biomarkers will be used for the finding of drug candidates, efficacy study and the elucidation of mechanism of action to develop new drugs.

We are focusing on the study of animal models to complete preclinical study and get IND from FDA. Graduate students of this laboratory are trained to be eperts in various animal model study.

What we are doing

Disease Biomarker Discovery from Animal Model

Disease Biomarkers are discovered by OMICS analyses including RNAseq and Proteomics of the target tissues from the animal models of target deases. Profiling of gene/protein, pathway analyses, gene and protein interaction analyses are conducted along with functional/biochemical studies to discover disease biomarkers of the target disease.

Disease Biomarker Study for Drugs Development

Disease biomarkers are used for finding of drug candidates, efficacy study and the elucidation of it mechanism of action. We are conducting experiments using animal models of deases including sepsis and cytokine storm, cancer cacehxia, musclular dystropy, and obesity.

Development of a drug for stroke and IND approval from KFDA
- Cooperation with Guju pharmaceutical company

New Drug Developmemt by Industrial Cooperation

The goal of this laboratory is to complete preclinical animal study and get IND from FDA via cooperation with industry. Until now, we got IND apprval from Korean FDA for stroke, obesity and cancer cachexia through industrial cooperation.

Development of a drug for obesity and IND approval from KFDA
- Cooperation with Guju pharmaceutical company

Development of a drug for cancer cachexia and IND approval from KFDA
- Cooperation with ADM Kora Inc.
